I hate it when Windows processes that really should output to the console, don't.

Users should learn how to deal with console windows.

Yeah, but the console subsystem is ancient. It's much easier to diagnose problems with the console always up, but I'm happy to settle for a log file.

Also happy to not be writing servers for Windows anymore. :)
