I don't know what country you live in but in my country you still have to pay rent for apartments you own. This fee goes to maintaining the building etc.

Yes, and that fee is 1/10 what normal rent would be or less. So not really comparable.

thats the difference between leasehold and freehold you have to pay ground rent.
