But, will it properly support NVIDIA GPUs? That’s was the biggest pain point for years.

Yep, Valve is working with Nvidia to create an installer with the proprietary Nvidia drivers bundled in.

FWIW, Nvidia's Wayland experience has been very usable with post-550-Series drivers. If you have an Nvidia GPU that supports more recent drivers, chances are that it will work like a charm.
