“How do we opt out?” - Meta employee
Poetic justice, or "dogfooding"
It's not like Meta/Facebook ever had moral concerns about privacy violations or surveillance (or many other things).
"I only work here because I like money and Meta pays more than $(INSERT_OTHER_FAANG)"
You might as well blame the entire US population for certain problematic actions of the president.
The equivalent would be blaming those who chose the current president. Which would be an entirely reasonable thing to do.
You actively decide to work for Meta which has been known to dishonestly violate privacy since basically day one [1]. Most US citizens were passively born as one. It’s also much easier to leave a company than to move out of USA.

A nation is what its people tolerate.
An economics euphemism; what the market will bear.
Americans bear their government and neighbors providing zero assurances of food, shelter, healthcare.
Millions support the Prez and the rest, even though they have power in numbers, well, not doing anything is a choice.
Good luck out there. My fellow Americans and I don't have to care if you end up homeless in your car. Murica!
And on the next update we either just enable it again and make you go through the process again :)
