That’s patently false. They have no legal market share. Tens of thousands of nvidia gpus were smuggled in and are currently in use in Chinese AI efforts.

The gov banned Nvidia, but not all at once. Provided there are alternatives, of course they'd lose the country quickly.

If they can't buy it, they will build it. Wouldn't you rather be the one selling it to them?

Bottom line: Trade policy borrowed from the mafia is not good for business.
