Alessandro here, from Italy. I'm 52, started with Z80 programming, then C64 with my cousins (we developed a couple of videogames for fun), then Amiga (what a machine), then the first PC, then networking, etc.
Spent all my life in IT, in any imaginable role.
Just wanted to let you know that I loved pfSense, but I hated netgate, so I switched OPNsense long time ago. Since a couple of years, I really thought that BSD was not the right choice anymore, for several reasons (pppoe, drivers, etc.)
Can't wait to test nfSensei. It will be an amazing project!!
It will be a beautiful adventure, can't wait.
Thanks man.
Glad to say I've stuck with *nix most of my professional life, and more latterly open source.
I use opnsense, which of course has it's origins in pfsense. it's a great project, but I have annoyances with FreeBSD - ppp, and the python framework so excited to see what your new development brings.
I'm also another seasoned software engineer now using AI full time - in fact as I sit here during some vacation time the screen next to me is working on a rust-based project - I'm much more a fan of type-safe languages! But I am mostly an agent supervisor now ;-)
Hoping the project goes well & look forward to trying out, and if it fits into my environment ok, hopefully be able to contribute too (in the free microseconds in the working day lol)
