There's http://v2ex.com, but, like HN, it does not focus on the American startup scene at all.

edit: tbc, it is a Chinese site for Chinese users in China to discuss tech and dev jobs and sometimes startup stuff. Crypto of course makes an appearance occasionally but I haven't tracked the site's attitude towards that as of late. Basically think of it as Chinese Reddit + HN.

Interesting. Is the idea to have a community to invest in each other or jumpstart an ecosystem in China? Or is this meant for non native English speakers in the US? I wonder if other nationalities have their own equivalents.

I edited my post to be more explicit; it was started in 2010 by a Chinese indie dev (in China) and grew/evolved from there. Its target audience is mainly devs in China.

Chrome does a pretty good job translating that site to english on the fly fwiw.
