What's the point for Reddit? I know that history has shown that they're not afraid to lose goodwill from their community, but it looks like every social media out there is relaxing its rules around harmful content right now.

I think in this case if a shooting happens that can be linked back to a Reddit post they might be afraid of a potential lawsuit.
Note: I’m not advocating this or saying anything other than this may be their reason.

Reddit (and quite possibly, a few other fora) has banned online communities that unite enthusiasts of 3D printing weapon parts.
