Mastodon updates its terms to prohibit AI model training (opens in new tab)

It’s fairly clear that this happened because they want to discourage AI scraping. But what does this mean for the Internet Archive? Is it really so strict that no new posts can be archived?

genAI companies couldn't care less about your terms of service.

Did they even think it through? Completely against the spirit of the project. To avoid legal issues, now I have to exclude any connection to Mastodon.social in case I ever decide I want to use my local data to train AI. This makes them as good Threads.
