How does SpacetimeDB deal with data migration as types/tables evolve?

We have this document: https://spacetimedb.com/docs/how-to/incremental-migrations

We also plan to allow you do apply migrations when you publish your module, but that is not yet released.

Does it mean that if I have a physics engine written in c++ and want to use it on the server I have to compile it to web assembly?
