Applying to YC from Europe with a Kid

I’m considering applying to YC, but I have a family with a young child and live in Europe. The standard expectation seems to be relocating to SF for three months (assuming you make it through).

I’d love to hear from others who’ve navigated this:

1. Are there any examples of founders who participated remotely or in a hybrid way?

2. Would skipping most of the in-person time be a major disadvantage? How much would I miss out on?

3. Are there alternative approaches I’m overlooking?

YC is known for valuing execution over logistics, but how flexible is this in practice? What assumptions am I getting wrong? I'm curious to hear from those who’ve faced similar challenges.
