Where is the AI used here?

They mention it a few times, yet there is no clear connection to AI

they describe the voice as being "realistic" so it seems like the phone call is a speech to text chatbot

It seems to be a warning only from the authors because at least one person (not 2.5B) got hacked. A bit of a desperate attempt to get attention as far as I can see.
