Why Apple made a bold move and switched to ARM? (opens in new tab)

It's not that bold of a move, it's a conservative move. They didn't switch their desktop chips over until they'd been pushing the envelope for ARM on mobile. They already had a huge amount of OS, compilers and systems experience with ARM.
