Periodic reminder that you don't need to use GitHub to collaborate with other developers. My Gitea is still humming along nicely!

You don't need the internet. Git will work with USBs.

your server can be down too, then what?

The origins of git was Linus sending and receiving patches by email. It is truly serverless.
