When California does these types of policies, companies change their products countrywide since the California population is so large and other states tend to follow policies.

When a smaller state like Colorado tries this… do they just not get dental floss at target anymore?

Personally, I would love if products containing PFAS were unambiguously labeled.

if cookware in california just said "not for sale in colorado", that would be a great help.

Most cookware labels read like a privacy policy, with misdirection, ambiguity and omission allowing just about anything.

I remember costco selling hexclad cookware which had very strong (but ambiguous) wording all over about safe and non-toxic, "combining stainless steel and ceramic"

Turns out they have forever chemicals on the OUTSIDE of the pan against the burner. Probably the hottest and worst place to put them. sigh.

Most other cookware descriptions read the same.

FWIW, California’s ban on PFAS (in textiles and cosmetics) starts January 1, 2025.

You're perhaps confusing Colorado with a bunch of the states around it. Sure, its economy looks small compared to California's, but California's economy is mind-bogglingly vast. Not many companies are willing to write-off ~12% of California.

Even if that were true, it’s not the case that all products have PFAS, so it’s not the case that Colorado would not have access to dental floss.
