The timeframe that was cherry-picked to serve as the basis for this epiphany coincided with the post-COVID firing spree from FANGs that was not a sector trend and more in line with mindless post-results reactions from company boards. We're talking about things like Amazon getting rid of most of Alexa-relared work after their bet failed, deciding to go the extra mile in firing rounds because their Rivian bet was failing to deliver, and pressuring WFH employees to move back to the office to validate their failed real estate investments and tax benefits. This resulted in massive layoffs, but in the meantime failing also to disclose they briefly froze internal transfers to restarted hiring right after they put a pause on their.
During this time the job market, which was already depressed due to the COVId interest rates, suddenly saw an inflow of thousands of FANG-grade engineers which obviously were favoured Over low-experienced candidates.
And this is the sort of bullshit stunt that these bloggers are using to post doom and gloom forecasts?
It's also silly how they spin this so called trend to have developers do QA and InfoSec and even performance reviews, as if this wasn't the norm for the past couple of decades? What do these guys think a developer does for a living?
