This will be the first time I've upgraded a screen (myself) on my main laptop, although it ships in August.
I wonder if 120hz will drain the battery a lot faster as OEMs claim they do on smartphones, or if there's VRR support.
I think this will make Linux (ecosystem) support for VRR better, as it will be another thing for relatively sophisticated Linux users to tinker with (which have a fair cross-section with framework laptop owners it feels like).
The face plate for the touchpad isn't flush with the faceplate with the side panels, which is sort of annoying. It could be resolved by having the touchpad panel the full width of the laptop instead of having spacers. Will there be an option to do that in the future?
Can you share the data sheet for this new panel? The previous matte panel has a very bright minimum brightness of 21 nits. What is the minimum brightness of this new panel?
This is what almost everyone does for one part or another. Companies are just usually not so transparent about it.
I have a 32GB DDR4 SO DIMM 2400MHz sitting around, can I repurpose it for a new Framework config (and spare the corresponding 180€)?
The Surface Pro 8/9 that this seems to be based on says it supports Dolby Vision.
Unfortunately, the page still says give us your email for a notification. Theres no per-order option for just the expansion slot as of yet.
Please make it happen, that's the last thing really important thing I need with my laptop.
Thank you for this "last laptop I'll ever buy"
As a Swede this is by far the most exciting part of the announcement!
