El Reg doing the decent thing with the health warning, but sad that this is a) necessary and b) starting to have consequences for those wanting security updates after having decluttered.

no matter how poorly Microsoft treats its users, no matter how much technical merit the alternatives have, no matter how much spyware and adware they include, people still flock to windows.

The way that Microsoft treats their customers reminds me of how the major world empires treat their citizens.

well, yes, but windows at this point has a near-infinite network effect, with entire ecosystems and subecosystems dependent on it. gaming, for example, is still huge. so yes, it does technically suck, but just like with anything else, technical quality is not the only decision factor.

As there was for every version of Windows before it. The results used to be shared directly in iso form, which made the subculture illegalish, and required you to hang around in the right places to learn about them.

How can you have written two whole articles on the tool and not mention the most important data point in the title/first sentence: size before, after, delta?
