Why might conservative lawmakers have beef with lab-grown meat? (opens in new tab)

The politicians getting paid off by wealthy oligarchs to maintain their oligarchic wealth, and the voters being told a bunch of lies to justify it, seems a much more parsimonious explanation.

It's not just lab-grown meat. Factory farming, GMOs, etc. are treated as skeptically.

Why would any grown man waste more than 2 seconds worrying about this?
