I'm a bit new to HN -- would it usually be encouraged to include the whole title? I worried that it might become too long.

I'm not an expert on the guidelines, they exist somewhere though. Usually the original title is the right thing to use but, in this case, since it is so vague, it's probably why the post didn't get any engagement.
