Edison's first application as a logging truck is perfect for hybrid. Most of the time a logging truck drives up the mountain empty, and comes down loaded.
The gravitational energy of the logs can be stored and used to power the empty truck back up the hill for the next load.
For a general use pickup, you have to make do with capturing braking energy during stop and go traffic. Not quite as juicy of a use case.
