I’m no business theorist, but won’t Intel need to split into two companies for the best chance at success in both foundry services and CPU sales?

That'll be awesome! If we ever reach "an ai era"...

"AI Era" - Sadly Intel is lagging behind AMD and nvidia in this era

They're ahead on the foundry part. AMD spun off their foundries into GlobalFoundries around 15 years ago and Nvidia was always fabless

Intel is merely a foundry in this story. They will build Microsoft’s AI chip. No idea how good that chip will be.
