I don’t know the intent of Goody-2’s creators, but Wired is deliberately missing the point here. The problem is that massive corporations are making rules at all instead of making politically-neutral products and letting consumers use them however they please. Calling the enforcement of corporate approved viewpoints “safety” reeks of the French Revolution’s “committe on public safety” which went around beheading political opponents of the new government.
