Five benefits we saw after going all in (including machine learning) on Elixir (opens in new tab)

Look at that buried lede at the end of the article. 83% (10 of 12) of the Developers left the company after moving to Elixir:

Just as Elixir slashed server costs, adopting it also helped reduce Amplified’s payroll. Before the transition to Elixir, Amplified needed a team of 12 developers. After the switch, however, Grainger found that he simply didn’t need to rehire after team members moved on to other roles.

Now just two developers do the same work Amplified used to need 12 to accomplish.

I recently sat down with Brian Cardarella at DockYard to discuss some of the benefits we saw at Amplified after going all in on Elixir. This followed my talk at Code BEAM EU where I discussed our experience of a year of doing machine learning in production with Elixir [1].

I agree with some comments I've seen recently that too much content about Elixir is telling and not showing how great it is. So here's a case study in how consolidating around Elixir was a win.
