This whole system of arbitrary enforcement on an "app store" seems weird to me. Real question: Would our economies be better off with stronger regulation around app stores? In the last one year, I am leaning more towards yes. My thinking: Many small companies are completely beholden to a single app store. If any small thing goes wrong, the business get the middle finder and suffers greatly. It seems like a David and Goliath situation, but Goliath drives a Leopard 2 tank and David still has a sling shot.
Idea: What if there were some minimum, legal requirements for app stores? Example: If the app store owner enforces a rule, it must be enforced equally on all apps. (Obviously, that did not happen in this case.) If complaining / escalating due to unfair treatment is not remedied, there is a neutral gov't board that can make a ruling. This is not unlike labour union relations in countries with strong labour laws.
