Glenn McDonald, founder of Every Noise at Once, gets laid off from Spotify (opens in new tab)

Wow, this guy designed some of the algorithms that informed much of my taste in music. I’ve discovered so many new artists, bands and genres thanks to those daily mixes.

There’s something so wrong with this that someone so foundational to the success of the project was allowed to be let go in a mass layoff.

I think it's really representative of how much the audience of hacker news has changed in the last 3 years (negatively), that the original posts about Every Noise got a lot of fanfare, but the news of it's closure gets almost no interest.
