For some reason, my karma dropped from 6 to 1. I can comment but still cannot make an OP. Trying to get my karma back up.

It is not "invisible", it is "dead", you need to change settings to "show dead", see here:

see also there how karma points work, if you had 6 and they became 1 it means that (approximately) 5 people downvoted one of your comments or submissions.
Why it became dead could have many reasons, it could be an automatic action, a moderator one, something else.
You posted it as a "Ask HN" while probably it should have been a "Show HN" and made once you already have released the software, also, you might want to post the link to the actual project instead of your ""general" page.
Ask HN is what I intended. I wanted to gauge the level of interest before jumping to the full reveal. I'm still not ready to release the latest version of my proxy server (which is quite a major update), partly because I wasn't able to get the feedback that I was looking for. The feedback is important because I've been working on this project for over two years and I still have no idea what sort of response I should expect (I have never seriously tried to promote it).
Also, my "general" page IS the project because there is more than one moving part.
P.S. How long do I have to wait when HN starts telling me to slow down? I've posted 5 times which doesn't seem excessive.
