Nor is it surprising that people who sit in front of screens dealing with petty workplace politics score poorly.

What's up with the sad CNC machinists and happy heavy equipment operators, though? Is it the sunlight?

Seems meaningless without more information about experimental design. There are many ways to measure happiness and well-being, and many potential confounds by demographics, as jobs are not assigned randomly. For example, age and social network have strong effects on both overall happiness and job placement.
