Seems like this one [0] is ripping off the Pololu brand [1]. How do you prevent this? I didn't see any way to report a listing.

I'm not sure if I'd call this "ripping off". It is broken english, but in the US you are allowed to say "X compatible replacement part" and not be infringing:

This listing doesn't exactly pass all of the tests, but as a buyer I'm currently not confused.

The listing says it's compatible with Pololu pinout. That has become a common term in stepper motor control.

It's little more than a standard IC on a simple board with a standard pinout.

How are half these things open hardware? Most of the items list can be found, and probably are, on a no-name aliexpress page.

I mean, if they included drawings sufficient to recreate it, maybe a cad model for the plastic injection molds? But as it stands, I wouldn't call it especially open source.

1) A few of the things I randomly clicked on there don't seem to have obvious hardware source links.

2) Disappointing the software itself isn't open source.
