Ask HN: Wood Moisture Measuring Equipment

I have a science project coming up, where I need a few sensors and a datalogger. I have previously purchased from a semi-local company (sweden), but they don't have what I'm looking for. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for.

I need a outdoor temperature & RH sensor, a temperature sensor for the inside of the wood, and a moisture sensor for post-dried measuring. I'm going to measure planks. My budget is $500-$1500. Ideally, all should be pluggable into some logger, which i can connect to my network and fetch from.

I would like any tips about specific instruments & retailers, but also just how you go about finding 'industrial' products and information regarding them.
