Ask HN: Is it fair that only YC companies can post launchHN?

I know YC is a private company and all but with HN having monopoly over tech news in Silicon Valley I can't help but feel it's a bit unfair.

its an exaggeration but most tech people get a lot of their news here.

"Most" is probably also an exaggeration.

Hype aside - if you are a real startup, with a real Marketing Budget & Plan, then a Launch HN post isn't any big thing.

BTW - any cite for that monopoly claim, or is that a "feels like it, in my bubble"?
