It is astonishing how they can work so hard to build a brand like HBO and one day give it up for something generic.

Agree with you on that. I've heard on a podcast (Make Me Smart, maybe) that the HBO brand did not appeal to women, which is what led them to this decision.

I'm just glad they didn't add a + sign onto it like everyone else.
