Can't you convert them into t-shaped keys by simply cutting the left/right arrows in half?

Part of the problem with the bar arrow keys is that the up/down are so small. I wouldn't want to "fix" the problem by making the left/right equally small.

They describe Apple as recanting though, but Apple's arrow keys are still half height.
