Two of my teachers had Erdös nummer 2. I got a paper submitted that was a generalization of a technical report written by one of them. If I had asked him to be my co-author, instead of asking to review it before submission, I would have had Erdös nummer 3. Now I have infinity. I only discovered about Erdös much later after I wrote the paper.
