Tell HN: YouTube red is increasing subscription price by 53%

Hasn't it been called YT Premium for close to 10 years? Announcement link? I have been paying 10/month AUD for all that time, this would be disappointing if true.

I heard from a Google employee that you can get a much lower price if you use a VPN exiting in a South American country only when you subscribe, while keeping your normal account and credit card.

But I don’t want to try as I don’t want to risk my Google account being closed.

Still worth it assuming you use it for music too. Let's hope they grandfather some of us in, I've been with them since Google Music
