Ask HN: How HN does to maintain quality moderation?

HN is a good website that have good retention of users and also good quality of content. I'm asking how is it possible ? Is there moderators or the only thing that make it good like it is, is the voting system ?

There is at least one moderator [1]

It is not obvious it is going on I would say that the moderation is light but firm.

There are probably some discussion on HN about its moderation.
