As software professional, or in general, can someone give ideas or any know-how, either from past or any knowledge on subject. Basically I think living frugal lifestyle will help cut down living expenses. But aside from that advice, is there anything that you can guide upon?

If you get laid off, get another job. There’s still a labor shortage.

We might just not be paying 200k to someone who can barely write a Python script anymore. So yes you might have to trade the Mercedes for a Honda or something.

Even if unemployment is 10%. This is an average, truck drivers, retail, etc. In tech, there is no 10%. You will find a new job quickly and easily. dont worry about this.

Recessions are an excuse to rethink identity.

I mean, was your dream growing up to be a "software professional" when you were eight?

So buy a horse and a ten gallon hat and cowpoke if that's what you really want.

Or not.
