My take-away was another argument for imposed interoperability. More
power to that.
But this closing paragraph struck me as a frustration the author
really wanted to get out there, and it has some punch;
"Stalin failed to create Soviet Science by applying Marxist
dialectic (a flawed approach to epistemic construction), even
though he tried hard. Science was too robust to be dialecticized,
because scientists were better served by the non-dialectic system."
Maybe, one day we will look back at these barren years of "social
media" and say "Zuckerberg and Musk failed to build the Soviet
Internet because people were better served by the non-dialectic
system". Whatever this "non-dialectic system" is that emerges, we must
still ask, "at what cost?"
