I watch a lot of videos on YouTube, mostly metal machining content, lectures, or long form background music. I have come to the conclusion that for my use the front end, the recommendation engine, and advertising scheme are active impediments to my enjoyment of the platform. So I use yt-dlp these days. Their website and mobile apps just aren't worth the hassle
