I think this particular story (not post) needs to be weighed against what meta said - it is entirely possible they didn't know that's what law enforcement were trying to obtain and their claim that it was about disposal of an infant (which probably is an actual federal crime as it is most places) is true, it would absolutely be unheard of for law enforcement to lie about access reasons :)
Not that I believe either party in general but it's very plausible.
