HN is feature minimalist. The beauty is you can skin it in any number of ways due to its simple design and it’s hackable. Firefox on iOS has a dark mode and HN appears dark when you visit it. I’m really liking it since blue light damages the eyes.
It’s an accessibility thing. I don’t like the discomfort of shining what is effectively a torch into my eyes as I read. Maybe there’s no research but it’s essentially a preference.
wonder what is percentage of people are using dark mode with system and apps ... somehow, I don't feel it is good/easy for eyes, and harder to read with dark mode at day time.
