Worrying about what the comment rabble on HN will "appreciate" is no useful barometer for success in progressing through life.

I merely say this because these sort of passive-aggressive remarks are generally not tolerated here. It just doesn't make for very interesting conversation, flamewars aside.

I thought I was being funny, in a wink wink nudge nudge kind of way, i.e. appearing to completely miss the point of a comment injecting the culture wars into an unrelated discussion.
