Show HN: Engineerfriendly.com – get referrals and find engineers to refer (opens in new tab)

So far my four suggestions:

Allow a description for a job instead of only asking what someone likes at that job.

Allow capital letters in the role? Not sure why it lowercases anything but the first letter of a title?

Allow users to choose which repos are listed because now the site is spammed with dozens of my repos some of which are junk/mvps/etc. (it's even got ALL my gists on too now)

Allow users to delete their account.

I’m a software engineer and work at a HR startup in NYC. We’re growing fast and are often asked to reach out to our own network to refer people. There’s a hefty bonus if someone we refer ends up being hired. As a recent immigrant I haven’t been able to refer anyone, since I don’t know a lot of engineers in the US yet, outside of my colleagues. How it works:

- The site auto imports your public repos and gists

- Create job openings by linking to existing posts on eg LinkedIn

- Connect with other engineers on the site through private chat

- Added bonus: without applying, you get to track your potentially worth over time, based on the invitations you get

- Added bonus #2: You’ll always talk with engineers instead of recruiters

- Added bonus #3: If you do choose to apply, you’ll get a warm intro, increasing your chances of being hired
