I don't think the Russians have declared they wanted to take Kiev in 72 hours. That's foreign analysis that may or may not be accurate.

there were Russian press articles auto-published celebrating the quick victory over Ukraine

They thought it would be over by the 26th.

Multiple state agencies had their auto publish still on.

The content of those articles are really delusional fyi.

In the meantime, Russia asked all of their allies for help.
