What happened to the hype around IoT and Big Data?

Is time getting quicker but I feel like it was just the other day everyone could not stop talking about the 'newest' emerging technologies we MUST all jump in on. IOT and Big Data.

Just curious what every came from the hype, or did we all just realise we didn't want out garbage cans communicating with our refrigerators and companies realised maybe there is such thing as too much information?

Was it all just replaced with the ever more important blockchain hype..

They both exist, except with big data the latest buzzword I keep hearing is “data lake” but its nothing new except a new term.

I think the hype went to AI/ML and crypto/blockchain

And in a year it’ll go somewhere else :) this is normal there’s been tons of different tech buzzwords in past years, decades and so on
