As far as I know, that's actually how these 'high profile' takeovers work. You know someone at Insta and politely ask/silently pay to get your account "back" or take over an "inactive" account.
I know someone who works in a major social network company. They got an email on their personal gmail, asking to help acquire vanity usernames for a reward.
Well yeah, but is your friend who works at <social media company> going to risk their position & salary there for some sketchy hook up that's less lucrative?
