I built this small app (PoC), while doing research about what my target audiences want.
My favorite method is reading Reddit comments to find out what they like/want/willing to pay.
Reddit is great b/c it is community focus. If I want to learn about Space community, then I would go /r/space.
If a post in that subreddit has a lot of upvotes, then I know the audience in that niche like something in the post. Then just read the comment to find out, if they're willing to pay for it. Don't spend time with low upvotes, the idea may sell, but not that great.
I've used this method for almost 2 years and created a few winning products which has 6 figures revenue.
After finding out what the target audience wants, then everything else is easy. Just hired someone (in your budget) to do it or you can do it yourself.
Don't hesitate if you see other people did a product first. You can improve it by reading comments too, or do something similar. You don't have to be the first one.
