Ask HN: What do you think about the Oracle Cloud?

A gartner report came out recently which said some positive things about oracle's cloud offering. But I tried to google for reviews from actual users/customers and came up with nothing. No articles on medium about the good and bad of the service. Has anyone here worked with OC and can share their experience?

They have a generous free tier which I have been using for scratch VMs. I haven't been compelled to do any real work there, because I find their control panel to be maddeningly slow and confusing.

For free, you can set up a 4-core ARM64 VM with a whopping 24GB RAM, as well as a couple micro-sized x86_64 instances.

I’ve kicked the tires (as well as Oracle itself in the wibbly bits) and came away surprisingly and begrudgingly impressed. I haven’t run it in production yet, but the offering seems solid.

They’re referring to Oracle cloud which competes with AWS, Azure, Google cloud etc not Oracle the database product
