Any chance this could be integrated with OBS? To select filters, show previews, etc.

Going forward, I wonder if OBS will offer pipewire or gstreamer streams (if those are a thing) for consumption by other apps?

There is an OBS plugin that allows you to use gstreamer nodes as filters: https://github.com/fzwoch/obs-gstreamer
