This can happen only because whenever any slippery-slope action was taken previously, there is an army of apologists and "explainers" who rush to "correct" your instinctive aversion to these changes. It's always the same - the initial comment is seemingly kind, yet with an underlying menace, and if you continue to express opposition, they change tack to being extremely aggressive and rude.
